The bit most people do not see
Race weekend is only the visible part.
There is a whole year of work behind it.
Silverstone is famous around the world for racing. But the people who work there are not just delivering race weekends.
Silverstone describes itself as a 364-day leisure destination. Across the year it hosts track days, testing, driving experiences, conferences, corporate events, hospitality and major race weekends.
That means the careers stretch much further than the roles people usually associate with a circuit.
And Silverstone is more than one business.

How Silverstone has grown
Silverstone is much more than a racing circuit.
Racing arrived at this former airfield in 1948, and Silverstone hosted the opening round of the first Formula 1 World Championship in 1950.
Today, the operation stretches far beyond racing. Events, driving experiences, Kart Silverstone, hospitality, accommodation and the wider visitor destination all need different teams and different kinds of expertise.

Today
A 364-day destination with work spanning events, experiences, hospitality and business operations.
As the destination has grown, so has the range of careers behind it.
Working across the year
No two weeks at Silverstone look quite the same.
A quiet day and a major international event are two very different versions of the same workplace. The work around them changes too.
Some teams are preparing months ahead. Others are delivering what is happening that day. Most depend on each other.
Plan and prepare
Long before guests arrive, teams are recruiting, selling, planning, maintaining, testing systems and preparing the venue.
Open the doors
Track days, driving experiences, karting, conferences, testing and private events keep the destination active across the year.
Deliver the big moments
Major events bring operations, safety, logistics, technology, catering, guest experience and business support together at a very different scale.
Reset and improve
Once an event is over, teams review what worked, fix what did not and start preparing for the next one.
It also explains why the jobs here stretch so far beyond racing roles.
Where could you fit?
There are more career areas here than most people expect.
If you only search for the job titles you already know, you can miss whole parts of the operation. Start with the kind of work you want to do.
These are broad career areas, not fixed departments. Some roles will naturally sit across more than one.

Work experience and early careers at Silverstone
A look behind the scenes can change what feels possible.
There are several ways to get your first experience of working in the destination, from school work experience to early-career and casual roles.
You do not need to wait until you have a perfect CV before you start understanding the destination.
Work experience
Silverstone currently runs a structured five-day work-experience programme for students aged 14 to 18. It is designed to show how a live business works across departments, while helping students build insight, confidence and practical employability skills.
Early careers
Entry-level and early-career opportunities can open across events, mechanics, digital, hospitality, sustainability and operations. Looking at these roles is useful even before you are ready to apply because they show what different teams actually look for.
Casual and event roles
Casual work can put you inside major-event delivery and build evidence of pace, teamwork, service, reliability and judgement. For some people, it is the first time Silverstone becomes a workplace rather than somewhere they visit.
Hospitality jobs at Silverstone and Escapade
Bring your craft to a setting unlike anywhere else.
Hospitality is one of the areas where Silverstone can need people who already know how to deliver excellent service under pressure. That creates a route into motorsport many candidates overlook.
Chefs and kitchen teams can work across race-day hospitality, conferences, retail, staff welfare and Escapade. Front-of-house, restaurant, bar, lifestyle, housekeeping and guest-experience teams shape the quality of a visit from arrival to departure.
Motorsport knowledge can grow once you are there. The expertise you already have in kitchens, hotels, restaurants, venues and guest service is what makes you useful from the beginning.
